"And thus I aspired to preach the gospel not where Christ was already named, that I might not build upon another man's foundation; but as it is written, 'They who had no news of Him shall see, and they who have not heard shall understand. " Romans 15: 20, 21

David's Report Vol. XIII No. 9 September 20, 2004 David Buskirk Sekolah Alkitab SJK Urei Faisei Pos Waren Serui, Papua 98261 INDONESIA Dear Brethren,
Greetings once again from Papua, Indonesia. I pray that all of you are doing well this fall and that the Lord is richly blessing you.
This has been a busy month for me. As you know from last month's report, I spent three weeks with the Johnsons here in Papua. They are currently in the States and looking for sponsorship and support to join the work here full time beginning early 2005. If you or if you know of anyone who would be willing to sponsor or support them, please contact them at 970-247-0865 or at martyj@gobrainstorm.net or at 2313 N. Glenisle Ave. #1, Durango, Co 81301. Gersyon Billik is now in Jakarta processing a visa for them to come and work here. He is also processing the visa renewal for Cesar and me. Please pray for Gersyon that we all can get our visas to stay and continue on with the work here in Papua. Please also pray for the Johnson family that the Lord will open up the way for them to able to come in early 2005 as planned.
While I was traveling with the Johnson's, Cesar and his wife were at the Bible School. Cesar taught for six weeks. He taught the Acts of the Apostles, the Church of Christ, the Gospel of Christ, and Denominational Doctrines. Since Cesar left to return to Manokwan on September 4, I have been the only one at the school teaching. I have been teaching Old and New Testament Survey and Leading Singing.
All of the twelve students who started in June are still at the school. They are diligent in their studies and in obeying the school rules and in getting along with one another. I have had very little discipline problems as I usually do every year. Also this is the first year that we have made it until September without anyone dropping out or being expelled. This has been by far the best school year I have had since I came to Papua in 1992. Praise the Lord!
When we started the Bible School in June only five of the twelve students were members of the church of Christ. I am happy to say that six of them were baptized into Christ this past month, mainly as the result of Cesar's teaching the Gospel of Christ and Denominational Doctrines. There is still one student left who has not yet been baptized. His name is David Saimoa. Pray that he will be baptized before the end of the school year in December.
This past month I have also been busy trying to get everything put away and caught up on all of my book work and administrative tasks at the school. I can finally say that I am pretty much caught up with everything now. I am currently revising my lessons on Hermeneutics (how to interpret the Bible). I taught that class for the first time last year and will be teaching it again in October.
I want to thank you for your continued prayers and support. May God bless you.
Cesar's and Nauke's Report Vol. XIII No. 9 July-August 2004 Cesar Basantes Kotak Post 228 Manokwari, Papua 98311 INDONESIA Manokwari, Irian Jaya Papua Barat
Greetings in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ. Greetings to the elders ot the church at Meadow View and all of the brethren whom I love in Christ. Grace and peace from God our Father and from our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
In this report I wish to report on the evangelistic ministry in Manokwari, West Irian Province of the Republic of Indonesia.
During July and August my ministry has been going on as usual. I have been going to the village of Wariori twice a week to worship with the brethren there and Sunday morning worshiping at my house in the city.
In this report I would also like to inform you that I completed the registering of my marriage to Nauke (pronounced now-kay) at the Statistics office on July 15.
On July 21 I left to go to Serui and arrived on the morning of July 23 with the purpose of going to Urei Faisei to teach at the Church of Christ Bible School. The distance from Serui to Urei Faisei is three hours by boat. But before I could continue my journey to Urei Faisei I had to report to the police office in Serui. After reporting to the police, I left to go to Urei Faisei, arriving there in the afternoon.
The following day I started teaching. There are 12 students, 10 men and 2 women. I taught them the Gospel of Christ, the Church of Christ and Acts of the Apostles. I was very excited because this year we have so many students.
While teaching there has been a lot of ups and downs with the attitudes and actions of the students and also with them coming from different educational backgrounds. But I give thanks to the Lord because while I taught there were six students that received the truth and were baptized for the remission of sins.
After I was finished teaching my courses, the students and I went to the village of Oiboa on August 28 to visit the church at Marita. Going there we had to take a boat for two hours down the coast. We arrived there in the early afternoon and later that afternoon we had a devotional at a brother's house. The following day was Sunday and we worshiped with the brethren there. In the afternoon we returned to the school.
This is the report of my activities during the months of July and August.
With prayers,
s/Cesar Basantes
